All Along

You make it sound like it's a bad thing,
to be a monster.
But the day will come
when you wish for a monster
to drive away the true evil,
but I wasn't here to be at your side.

I have known braver souls than you,
 Men who had their moment
and did nothing.
Because when it’s your life
and the lives of everyone you love,
your moral conviction doesn’t mean anything. It leaves you.
And all you want at that moment
is not to be hurt

I thought , well, that’s it,
You hurt someone,
you are not you anymore.
You will never be you again.
But then you wake up the next morning
and you are still you.
And you realise,
that was you all along
