Young Love Fell Silent

Tension can be felt 
between the two of them.
So unsure of themselves 
and their own individuality.
Contemplating the two together 
a frightening reality.

Young love that starts 
so innocently sweet 
then suddenly takes a 
turn for the worse.
What was once thought 
as cute now coming off 
like a curse.

Give them an inch, 
then they will take a mile.
Instead of laughing it off 
maybe you shouldn't have 
been the one who just sat 
back and did nothing but smile.

As if they were suddenly 
terminally ill and fell sick.
If the source is not weaned slowly 
then accept your demise.
That starving heart will do 
nothing but scream and cry.
Young love that's so volatile 
and emotionally spent.

Communicating amongst each other
instead of allowing one 
to knowingly act out in defiance,
And kill the last peace of it 
could have been the cure 
for the curse, had you not just sat back 
and smiled in silence.
